Wrong-guess protection
Five wrong tries, then growing pauses. You can also choose to erase everything after 10 or 20 wrong attempts in a row.
Slowing guesses down
After five wrong patterns in a row, VaultMaster pauses for 30 seconds, then for longer each time, up to an hour. A correct pattern resets it, and the pause carries on even if you close and reopen the app.
Erase after too many tries
If you want it, VaultMaster can permanently delete every vault after 10 or 20 wrong patterns in a row. It’s off unless you turn it on.
What it can’t do
We’d rather tell you plainly than have you find out later.
- The pauses and the erase option are software limits. A determined attacker who changes the phone’s clock can skip a pause.
Questions
- Does VaultMaster erase my vault if I get my pattern wrong?
- Only if you switch on “Erase after wrong attempts”, which is off by default. Without it, wrong tries only cause longer and longer pauses.
