VaultMaster

Duress mode

A second pattern that opens a harmless vault and erases the others, for the moment someone makes you unlock your phone. Free for everyone.

What duress mode does

Duress mode is an optional second pattern. If someone makes you unlock VaultMaster, you draw it instead of your real one. A harmless vault opens as normal, and every other vault on the phone is erased.

It’s off until you set it up, it asks you to confirm because it deletes your own data, and it’s free. No security feature in VaultMaster is behind a paywall.

Setting it up well

Put a few ordinary photos in the vault the duress pattern opens, so it looks like what it is. A duress pattern only helps if the vault behind it looks believable.

What it can’t do

We’d rather tell you plainly than have you find out later.

  • It works only if you’ve set up a harmless vault, and only if the person asking doesn’t know to look for another.
  • Duress mode erases data. Only set it up if you understand that, and keep a backup of anything you can’t replace.

Questions

Is duress mode free?
Yes. Duress mode, recovery, backup, sharing and export are free. VaultMaster Pro only raises the limits on vaults and items.
Does duress mode delete my photos?
Yes. Drawing the duress pattern opens the harmless vault and permanently erases the other vaults, so only use it if you mean to.

VaultMaster is coming soon to the App Store.
