Thistle Miles privacy policy

The short version

Thistle Miles doesn’t collect your personal data. Everything you put into it stays on your device, where we can’t see it. Purchases are handled by Apple, and no other company is involved.

What stays on your device

Thistle Miles keeps your trips, routes, places, vehicles and settings on your device. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and there is no account or server copy.

What leaves your device

To show place names, the app asks Apple Maps for the street and town at the start and end of each trip, under Apple’s privacy policy.

Permissions

Thistle Miles only asks for a permission when you use the feature that needs it, and you can change your mind in Settings.

Location

To measure trips. If you turn on automatic detection, location is used in the background (with permission set to Always) to notice when you start and stop driving.

Motion & Fitness

With automatic detection on, motion activity helps tell when you’re driving.

Notifications

If you allow them, the app tells you when a drive has been logged. These are created on your iPhone.

Purchases

Purchases are made through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the app on your device what you’ve bought. We don’t receive your name, email address or payment details, and Thistle Miles doesn’t use any third-party purchase or analytics service.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t ask you to make an account.
  • We don’t use analytics, crash reporting or tracking of any kind.
  • We don’t show ads or use advertising identifiers.
  • We don’t sell or share your information.
  • We don’t send notifications from a server. Any you turn on are scheduled on your device.

Deleting your data

Because your data lives on your device, you’re in control of it. Deleting Thistle Miles removes everything it stored. There is nothing on our side to delete.

If you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply and to improve Thistle Miles, and we don’t add you to any mailing list.

Children

Thistle Miles doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.
